New website tool keeps residents informed
By Mayor Donald R. Burr
Special to the Times
Have you seen our city’s official website recently? We have a new feature that can enable Campbell residents to have another tool to be informed of City Hall activities via with Real Simple Syndication News Feeds.
The City of Campbell has just implemented the Real Simple Syndication [RSS] News Feeds on our City website at www.CityofCampbell.com to distribute and automatically notify interested individuals of updated information.
With RSS News Feeds, subscribers are notified when new information has been posted on our website and are provided a summary of the article. RSS New Feeds contain headlines and hyperlinks to longer articles or web pages. You can currently subscribe to “What’s New,” “Budget Information” and “Job Opportunities.” We will be adding more topics, such as “Agendas and Minutes,” over time.
Using the City of Campbell RSS News Feeds is an easy way to stay informed about what is taking place in your city without cluttering up your email. You can easily retrieve summaries of the latest content from our website and save time by not having to browse the site for new content. Some of the other advantages are:
-You can quickly review the latest city information and easily read the topics of interest to you.
-When subscribing to an RSS News Feed, you do not have to reveal your email address.
-If you want to stop receiving an RSS News Feed, you do not have to send an "unsubscribe" request; you can simply delete the feed from your web browser or RSS Feed Reader.
-Each RSS News Feed is automatically "sorted" by category. This means that each RSS News Feed will show its updates and you can subscribe, review and use only to those RSS News feeds which are of interest to you.
For your convenience, you can access all the City of Campbell RSS News Feeds from the City of Campbell RSS index page. Also, if there is a related City of Campbell RSS News Feed on a page of our web site, we'll display this icon and provide a link to take you directly to the feed. For more information, contact the City’s Public Information Officer at (408) 866-2125.
