Campbell faces fiscal challenges – Public Forum added
Did you know?
- The city is facing an ongoing $2 million budget shortfall.
- Approximately $4 million in cuts/adjustments have already been made over the past five years.
- City staffing has been reduced by 10 percent.
- Maintenance and infrastructure needs have been deferred.
- Sales tax revenues, the primary source of general funds, are not keeping up with inflation.
- The state has taken away [re-directed] $13 million of our money over the past 15 years; annually, we are current losing $1.3 million to the state-and they may take more to solve their $17 billion deficit.
- We cannot continue to provide the same level of services.
The City Council will be making important decisions next month on how the city will address this problem. For more information, a fourth Public Forum on this topic will be held on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
